A Miniature Curious Town

Thank you to Instructions Not Required for facilitating the children's build on Day 1. Instructions Not Required generously sponsored the installation by providing sacks and sacks of the colourful plastic bricks, allowing for unrestricted play and imagination and the creation of this wonderful piece.
As the name suggests, Instructions Not Required is all about LEGO®!

This East-Sussex based LEGO® club welcomes enthusiasts aged 5 and up to come together and build in a fun, creative environment. The team behind the club shares a passion for LEGO® and loves building alongside others who feel the same. Participants can choose to build according to the theme of the day, enjoy a free-build session, or even follow a set of instructions to construct an official model. (Yes, the name is Instructions Not Required, but the club understands that some builders prefer a clear plan!)

The idea for the club was inspired by the founders’ eldest child, whose interest in LEGO® reignited their own childhood love for building. From that spark, Instructions Not Required was born—a place where great ideas and creativity can take shape, one brick at a time.

Thanks also to LEGO® enthusiast and master builder Simon Turner, who supported a small group of playful adults to add to the children’s designs on Day 2 of the build.

As well as hosting monthly LEGO® workshops for adults at The Compound, Simon is also an interior designer, carpenter and upholsterer, furniture restorer and is based in St Leonards-on-sea.

Thanks to Anna Atkinson for her beautiful illustration which is displayed behind the LEGO® illustration.

Anna has been working as a Transpersonal Arts Counsellor for 8 years, having trained at the alternative Tobias School of Art and Therapy whose training program places an emphasis on healing through a more holistic and gentle approach to creativity.

She originally obtained a degree in Illustration at the University of the Arts, at Camberwell college of Art, which led to an interest in using the creative impulse as a way to illustrate stories and ideas.

Anna has worked extensively in Primary, Secondary and Sixth Form schools in London and Sussex, helping to facilitate creative educational interventions for individuals and groups, particularly in relation to challenging behavioural needs in financially and culturally deprived areas where often therapeutic provisions are scarce.
