“What most inspires me to produce this work, is not just the subject matter but the process. I use a mixture of different techniques, which I find therapeutic.

Firstly, I choose to source and repurpose my materials where I can, which involves an element of scavenging to find suitable pallets. Then the pallets are prepped ready for assembling. Each unframed pallet has unique dimensions and an original feel. The colours of each background sometimes determine the subject matter and the overall feel of the piece. I like the contrast between the seeming haphazard background and the accuracy of the line drawing. This is something that I would like to explore even further with larger works.

This way of working is at odds with my previous pieces, yet feels totally natural.”
