Sarah Ward

I was born in a small village on the edge of the Welsh Valleys, where an early childhood of free roaming the landscape kindled my love of the natural world.
After twenty years working in photography in London, I’ve settled back near the coast in Sussex. I live on a high hill, with the sea in my gaze and a woodland on my shoulder.
My work explores the mythic landscape of the land and of the mind, finding a way of seeing and working where sacred connection is evident.
My work is not specific to particular materials, but is more concerned with bringing forth distinct ideas, however they find expression.
I’m looking for augury in a tumble of jackdaws on a windswept afternoon. I’m looking for the place where an ancient oak holds time and where the iron red river brings us home.
